Beethoven had used the words, ‘I am of electric nature’, to describe his energy and how he felt as a creator living in the real world. When I need to create something new, something amazing that has never been heard before in some way, it is first nurtured by my subconscious spirit, and secondly seems to require a monumental amount of emotionally charged energy that just overwhelms and must be released into a new form. The music itself becomes imbued with the emotion in which it was conceived and brought into this world. It is much easier to feel electric all the time…feel like an energy body, like a sound wave, so that it is easy to pick up the vibrations of everything that is around. In some beautiful way, I understand a small part of what Beethoven may have been eluding to as he created music that has electrified the world since he brought it into being. How remarkable to feel this understanding!
‘Music is the electric soil, in which the spirit lives, thinks, creates.’ – Beethoven

I said to my daughter, ‘I will only have two days in Toronto to write music!’ and she answered, ‘Don’t waste any of your time mom!!’. And how precious is our time here! This music is a celebration of life’s energy and is filled with the one thing that I value more dearly than pretty much anything else in this world…hope!
This track took a day and a half, from conception to what you hear now! It is my voice trying to make sense of the world. When someone close to you is dying or having great difficulties in life, you are thrown into an energy that is confusing and almost unbearably hopeless. It seems to me that as I feel that depth of despair, my entire body, spirit and mind is fighting and climbing as high as possible…to bring the opposite energy to life! To give hope, take away the fear, bring comfort, touch the soul and make indescribable beauty that makes living just a little bit easier. Lots and lots of love to all those who are facing unimaginable challenges and fighting their personal battles. I can’t do much, but I can give you my music! M.
Three new cinematic pieces that were created in three days! All pre-written for films in the making! Enjoying the intensity, textures and pure creative craziness that this style brings out of me!! Enjoy and hold onto your seats!
Danny’s Ghost is an incredible new track that opens into a world of mystery, fright and suspense!! Written for a film that is currently being edited! Very excited to see how the music will sync up with picture!
Valentine needed a bit over a minute of chaos, anger, angst and pain! I think this track fits the bill.
Produced in the wee hours for Alex’s film trailer, it’s a horror film that I will be scoring this summer! It is all about psychological build up and getting under the skin of the viewer. So excited to create a score that will meld classic and modern horror, mostly with the sounds and textures of my cello!
