Being Electric in Nature

Margaret : October 7, 2015 10:17 pm : Enchanten Productions, Film music, Margaret Maria

Beethoven had used the words, ‘I am of electric nature’, to describe his energy and how he felt as a creator living in the real world. When I need to create something new, something amazing that has never been heard before in some way, it is first nurtured by my subconscious spirit, and secondly seems to require a monumental amount of emotionally charged energy that just overwhelms and must be released into a new form. The music itself becomes imbued with the emotion in which it was conceived and brought into this world. It is much easier to feel electric all the time…feel like an energy body, like a sound wave, so that it is easy to pick up the vibrations of everything that is around. In some beautiful way, I understand a small part of what Beethoven may have been eluding to as he created music that has electrified the world since he brought it into being. How remarkable to feel this understanding!

‘Music is the electric soil, in which the spirit lives, thinks, creates.’ – Beethoven

Waste no time! Live, love, laugh and above all hope!

Margaret : September 23, 2015 3:18 am : Cinematic, Enchanten Productions

I said to my daughter, ‘I will only have two days in Toronto to write music!’ and she answered, ‘Don’t waste any of your time mom!!’. And how precious is our time here! This music is a celebration of life’s energy and is filled with the one thing that I value more dearly than pretty much anything else in this world…hope!

This track took a day and a half, from conception to what you hear now! It is my voice trying to make sense of the world. When someone close to you is dying or having great difficulties in life, you are thrown into an energy that is confusing and almost unbearably hopeless. It seems to me that as I feel that depth of despair, my entire body, spirit and mind is fighting and climbing as high as possible…to bring the opposite energy to life! To give hope, take away the fear, bring comfort, touch the soul and make indescribable beauty that makes living just a little bit easier. Lots and lots of love to all those who are facing unimaginable challenges and fighting their personal battles. I can’t do much, but I can give you my music! M.

I Do Believe!

Margaret : February 5, 2015 9:27 pm : Uncategorized

Manifesting my dreams!  So many elements are coming together and into my life to make way for new music and an outpouring of creativity and love!  Moved into my new studio, have wonderful and inspirational people all around me who surround me with great energy, have 3 feature films that I am working on, a great project in the science world that will make a difference in the lives of many people, a cool new genre being developed with a fellow composer in LA, not to mention all the kids and students that I teach each week, as well as the OrKidstra Symposium on Instrumental Change where I will conduct the OrKidstra and give a session on improvising fun in the classroom!  Feeling so blessed to have all of this happening and incredibly supportive children and family who let me fly!!  I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

Hold onto your seats!!!

Margaret : January 22, 2015 6:37 pm : Cinematic, Enchanten Productions, Film music, Film Trailer, Margaret Maria

Three new cinematic pieces that were created in three days!  All pre-written for films in the making!  Enjoying the intensity, textures and pure creative craziness that this style brings out of me!!  Enjoy and hold onto your seats!

Danny’s Ghost is an incredible new track that opens into a world of mystery, fright and suspense!!  Written for a film that is currently being edited!  Very excited to see how the music will sync up with picture!

Valentine needed a bit over a minute of chaos, anger, angst and pain!  I think this track fits the bill.

Produced in the wee hours for Alex’s film trailer, it’s a horror film that I will be scoring this summer!  It is all about psychological build up and getting under the skin of the viewer.  So excited to create a score that will meld classic and modern horror, mostly with the sounds and textures of my cello!

Tomorrow’s the album release day for ‘Enchantress’!

Margaret : December 9, 2014 5:43 pm : Cello Music, Enchanten Productions, Enchantress, Film music, Margaret Maria

Final Prayers

Enchantress, my 6th album that will be released tomorrow (December 10, 2014), has been an incredible project to put together. It is a culmination of a full year’s work and represents so many facets of my life and my personality. Everything around me finds its way into the music. My love of 20’th Century Russian music and my current challenges of composing for films and production music libraries, has me constantly on my toes and in a state of heightened creativity and connectivity to everything around me and within me. I just can’t be detached from my music, it is not something I just do; it is everything that I am. It is equally scary, but fantastic to be able to share this with my fans and all the great people who support me in my musical journey!

The music on Enchantress goes from super energetic, frenetic, fantastical explosions of energy, to some flashy Vivaldi-esque pieces that are all fiery bow work and pure joy to create and produce, to some gorgeous sweeping cello lines that are pure heavenly cinematic colours. From some dark film score inspired tracks, to crazy insomniac moments, to the edge of infernal pain, and then a bit more kick ass cello! I can only describe it as an intense emotional listening experience that sizzles, is brilliant, emotive, dark and sparkly! The music says it all-you just need to take a listen!
